"I have learned so much about my body. Pilates is a long-term commitment. When I exceed my goals, I then feel challenged to go on to the next."

"I started Pilates shortly after giving birth to my second child. Prior to that, I had been doing yoga for a long time. So when I was ready to start exercising again I didn’t just want help with my flexibility but also strength training to get my core back again. My biggest puzzle with it all was juggling life, kids, work and finding time to include Pilates in the mix.

Pilates has been great for me. The first two years was about finding the right routine and scheduling myself to come in twice a week. It was about learning the process all around from figuring out what muscles in the core I needed to focus on that will make me stronger to what makes a difference for my individual body. After learning the exercises, my individual goals were set along with a program. While it took me two years to get into a good routine and figure out what worked, I saw progress and met small goals along the way!

I love Pilates because there are options. I especially enjoy the By Design group class because it is a small class focused on each of our own individual goals but we are all in it together. It isn't competitive but inspirational. You can also look around and learn from others.

I have learned so much about my body. Pilates is a long-term commitment. When I exceed one goal, I then go on to the next. There is always another challenge waiting for me, step by step.

I recommend Pilates to anyone who is thinking about trying it. You are not on your own here. You really do get customized hands-on help at Concord Pilates. It's a very relaxing place and I always feel so much better after class. I advise people to just get started, but give it at least six months. Make that commitment because it is worth it. Have patience!”
